You took some really breathtaking photos, Jack! Thanks for sharing your thoughts and observations from these magical places. I hope to visit Australia one day.
P.S. I'm always in awe of your style of writing. Damn, it's so pleasant to read... ✨
So happy you're back, Jack! Your essay here is divine. I love your ability to describe what you are taking in through your five senses -- your writing is so sensitive and articulate. And the photos -- WOW. You're an artist, through and through. Thanks, also, for the Anthony Bourdain quote. That's a keeper.
Thanks Mary...Your words are so kind - I couldn't possibly receive a better review of my work... Photography is something I love to do - and I certainly accomplished that during my 2-month journey in Australia. I will post more photos (wildlife, landscape, food and wine) in upcoming articles and in the new Notes space...
Oh, an absolute must, Susan - the restaurant was a great experience...a tad expensive, but worth the one-time visit. The Cube is insane...you will appreciate every bit of it...especially if you are a Salvador Dali fan!
Thanks Jessica... I agree, there are many unusual and amazing creatures in Australia...it's just a magical land. Thanks for reading, contributing and supporting my work!
Thank you for sharing, Jack. For a moment I was there at the rockpool, wiggling into that space of beauty and awe. Such wonderful photos and great links--I may start planning my trip now! I can’t wait to read more. And I’m so glad you found a renewal in your time away.
Oh wow...thanks for the compliment, Holly. I am thrilled whenever my words create a strong connection with the reader...and especially from a talented writer such as yourself! Thanks for your ongoing enthusiastic support of this project.
Please let me know if you ever decide to take that trip to Australia...I have so many suggestions to share. And if you do go there one day, be sure to plan at least 6 weeks (more is even better). It's a huge country with lots of ground to cover...and worth every cent you will spend!
Don’t sell yourself short, Jack. You’re a master in the kitchen, but I think you’re incredible with words, too! Your deep thoughts come through in your writing, even when you’re giving us recipes!
Hi Jack, I really enjoyed reading your reflections and wonderful photos. Australia is on my list to visit so great to know some of your recommendations. I look forward to reading your next bit. Thank you and take good care.
Thanks Julie... I hope you make it some day - it's an amazing country to visit with plenty to discover! Thanks for reading and for your continued support!
Good catch Glenda... I did that intentionally as a lead into my next piece, in which I will discuss the misrepresentation of the koalas and their unfortunate fate going forward - stay tuned...and thanks for reading!
I just "restacked" one of the passages from this beautiful piece because, wow, what a captivating picture you paint, Jack! I never had any interest in seeing Australia, and now I do (although I still don't have any interest in the flight there!). Thank you for sharing your stunning photos and Australian observations here. I'm already looking forward to Part 2! :)
Glad you enjoyed your visit to Australia
Yes we eat far too much meat here but no one on a single income can afford it now so
I’ve started buying boxes of veges from Farmer Direct
You bypass supermarket produce and prices and buy “ ugly “ or “ odd “ shaped vegetables that taste just better I reckon
And it’s a good thing to support farmers in Oz as they are being screwed over by the duopoly of Coles and Woolies
When I get home today I’ll make a vege curry and red rice
Yummmmmm 👍🏻

Proof that Notes works, found your newsletter through it.
And now, I've found yours...
Fantastic. Notes is going to join the dots.

Great writing Jack. I must try the Singapore Circus when I go to Adelaide in a few months’ time.

I really enjoyed reading this! The moonlight swim sounds divine.
Thank you for sharing your adventures! I love the wombat pic. So many amazing creatures in Australia... Rnjoy every minute.

Thanks Holly - that means a lot to me...
This reflection transported me back there. Love the pictures too!
Thanks Arielle...every time I visit Australia, I discover something new and fabulous - what a great country to visit!

What wonderful reflections of my home country. But, you jolted me at the end with koala bears. . . . just koalas Jack, no bear sightings in Oz. 😘
Good catch Glenda... I did that intentionally as a lead into my next piece, in which I will discuss the misrepresentation of the koalas and their unfortunate fate going forward - stay tuned...and thanks for reading!
Yes, tragic what's happening to them.
