A personal journey from the Swiss Alps to my vegan kitchen, exploring how to preserve cherished fondue traditions while embracing plant-based innovation. Includes tips, techniques, and a recipe for cauliflower fondue.
Wow, right down the memory lane, beaming me back to that great evening. When I remember correctly, you had to down more than one shot of Kirsch, or was it me? I fully enjoy your vegan version…
I live in Salzburg and live this yearly, literally... However, due to food intolerances my Austrian hubby and I have gone more or less plant-based (which is literally impossible for an Austrian).
I am rocking this Vegan thing with my US creativity. But, we thought cheese fondue was a thing of the past and have transferred the experience to a chinese hot pot. Thanks for the recipe, I wanted to get rid of my ceramic fondue pot, literally tomorrow! For us with kids, we have Adult-Schnapps, but the one who looses the bread has to sing a song! That is the kids version. The strip fondue was back in my 20's. lol. And we only go sledding at night, without lighting, even the kids:) Here is to memories and rituals for cold very long nights.

Hmm…as I recall, I was forced to endure a penalty far worse - another sledding run…at night!
Hope I am not jumping into a personal chat...

Love the picture you painted, makes me want to make fondue asap, especially since it's FRIGID where I live right now.
Thanks, Lauren - I appreciate the kind words!
There's nothing quite like the satisfaction of dipping bread cubes into a bowl of creamy goodness. I hope you enjoy!
I could picture that snowy alpine village as I was reading this, Jack. Wishing you a delicious and peaceful New Year.
Thanks, Domenica... Wishing you an equally delicious and peaceful New Year...
This was such a warm and fuzzy read. I’m very tempted to recreate this experience here in central Virginia in the blue ridge mountains!
Thanks for the kind words, Carrington… I think a Blue Ridge Mountain fondue experience sounds marvelous!
Yum! Love your friends photo.
Thanks, Clee - memories are a wonderful thing…
They are!
