Exploring perspective when life feels heavy. I share my journey of finding solace through rediscovering poetry and embracing the creative act of cooking during challenging moments.
Jack, what I want to say is "I'm so proud of you!!" even though that phrase seems far too maternal for our friendship... :-) Yet I AM proud that you broke through your longstanding aversion to sharing your poetry with the world. That's HUGE. I can't clap hard enough over here...
What you've written is beautiful, earnest, and true. This line I especially love: "beyond the shroud of daily strife." Keep sharing all the creative offerings that come through you, edible or not. They are all nourishing for us... and for you. xox
I truly appreciate your kind words and ongoing support. It means so much to me to have such incredible and generous followers like you. I might need a day or two to put together a thoughtful response, but in the meantime, I just wanted to express my heartfelt thanks. You're really amazing!
You are welcome, Joy...and thanks for sharing your thoughts. I'm happy my poem resonated with you. It was a difficult decision to share this poem publicly, so your words are especially supportive.
Change is often a difficult situation to deal with - especially if that change becomes disruptive. I hope you find the courage to continue creating in your own way and choose to put your focus on projects that mean a great deal to you!
Jack, I am so glad you shared your beautiful poem with us. It is a perfect timing, as I am struggling right now. Sometimes, I feel like giving it all up, wondering what the point is of it all, but I also know being creative is one of my coping strategies when the world around me is getting too dark.
Please hang in and continue chasing the light. Creative people like you are critically important these days - I hope you can tune out the noise and allow all of that creative energy to come out and play…
I want to repeat what others have said here: your creativity goes beyond the kitchen and includes words, and now poetry. Thank you for sharing this with us, If it took courage, I want to applaud you and hope you'll stay brave, LOL. I hope your wife is alright, and thank you for the fabulous Pot Pie -- sounds absolutely delicious.
Not really… Pies, pot-and others, are indeed as American as — well, you know the rest. They didn’t exist in Germany when I grew up. Could be different now; it’s sooo long ago, much has changed. Glad to hear your wife is okay.

Thank you for sharing your poem Jack - I found strength, comfort and inspiration in your words - despite the political madness which surrounds us.

This is very kind of you to say. I guess, I will just have to leave rural Florida and come home and I am sure the darkness will eventually dissipate!
safe travels…

Thanks for reading and being so generous with your words, Jessica.
Silvia is fine. I think I suffered more in my mental anguish - thanks for asking.
Let me know if you give the Pot Pie a try. Do you also have childhood memories of pot pies?

Jack, your poetry demonstrates the breadth and depth of your creativity. A poem and a pie - yes!👏
Thanks, Yasmin - I appreciate your kind words and continued support!
