Choosing to 'call in well' one November morning became a 40+ year tradition of choosing authenticity over expectation – a defining moment that gave me the courage to live life on my own terms.
Calling in “well”! I love that! And could have used the phrase often enough in past lives ;-) Still, it’s never too late, so I’m calling in well enough to go to the gym right now - instead of procrastinating.
Thanks for the up-lift and happy belated Jack’s Day (also noted 😂)
Thanks for reading and contributing, Veronica. Your comment brings me an incredible amount of joy and gratitude. I’m especially thrilled the idea of ‘calling in well’ landed with you...and encouraged you to take action. I couldn’t ask for or wish to receive a more favorable response.
Thanks for reading and sharing your thoughts, Susanne.
I believe many people opt for the safety net of inaction rather than facing the anxiety of uncertainty regarding future outcomes. I likely exhibit that mindset in other aspects of my life...
Delightful and wise, this concept of calling in well! How many individuals, stuck in jobs they hate, dream of doing just what you did? Thank you for telling this tale -- it's inspiring, Jack. I've never considered calling in well, but as you know, I did flip a coin to make the biggest career decision in my young life. I think you and I share that freedom-loving, purpose-driven spirit!
Flipping a coin to determine your fate sounds just about right. I believe there are times when it’s best to leave the ultimate direction to whichever way the winds of the universe are blowing. I applaud your bravery!
We likely share much more than things we may do differently.
Loved the sharing, Jack. Thanks! I am currently distracted with other projects, but I always take the time to check your newsletter. PS: I'll be in Zurich & Lucerne next week. Do you have any advice for a top vegan restaurant? Thank you!

I love this story. I Wonder how many of us had a day like this, but just ignored the calling and just followed the daily grind…
Happy Jack‘s Day!

That brings me immense joy. Thank you for reading. I'm thrilled it connected with you. And who doesn't need a personal holiday?
Actually, I sent it to my friend whose birthday is tomorrow, Nov. 1, and she loved it. x
Calling in well, what a fantastic idea—I love this! Happy Jack’s Day!
Thanks, Jennifer - I expect massive worldwide celebration 😂
